🚀 Getting Started with eSIM Copilot in Microsoft Teams (for IT Admins)
eSIM Copilot makes it easy for employees to order, install and manage mobile connectivity — right inside Microsoft Teams. This guide walks you through the full setup process for rolling it out across your organisation.

👥 Three ways to install eSIM Copilot
You can choose from three different install methods depending on your org’s app policies:
Install Method | Who does it | Org Policy Required |
🧑💻 Employee installs it from the Teams App Store | The employee | Org allows users to install apps |
📩 Employee requests install approval | Employee & Admin | Org allows pre-approved apps only |
🏢 IT Admin installs for all users (recommended) | IT Admin | Org distributes eSIM Copilot to selected or all users |
🛠️ How to install eSIM Copilot in Microsoft Teams
- Visit the Teams Admin Portal
- Click on “Teams Apps” > “Manage Apps”
Use the left sidebar.
- Search for “eSIM Copilot” and select it
- Click the “Users and Groups” tab
- Allow Everyone
- Choose specific users or groups (ideal for pilots)
Decide who can access the app. You can:
- Set permissions (Recommended)
User.Read
– lets users sign in and lets the app see their basic profileoffline_access
– maintains access when the user is awayopenid
,profile
,email
– enables login and reads the user's email address
Click the Permissions tab and allow these:
- Click “Publish”
This makes eSIM Copilot visible and installable for your users.
📦 Pre-install the app for users (optional but recommended)
To ensure every employee sees the app straight away:
- In Teams Admin Portal, go to Teams Apps > Setup Policies
- Select the policy you want (e.g. Global (Org-wide default))
- Under Installed Apps, click Add Apps and select eSIM Copilot
- Save your changes
📌 Pin eSIM Copilot to the Teams sidebar
Make the app easy to find by pinning it:
- Still in the Setup Policy, scroll to Pinned Apps
- Click + Add Apps and select eSIM Copilot
- You can also choose its position in the list
- Click Save
Once pinned, users will see eSIM Copilot in:
- Microsoft Teams (desktop & mobile)
- Outlook
- Microsoft 365 sidebar
🔐 Enable Single Sign-On for auto account linking
If you enable Single Sign-On for Teams in the Admin Portal, any user with an email in your Microsoft Azure tenant (e.g. @company.com) will be automatically added to your company’s eSIM Copilot account.
To turn this on:
- Open Account Settings > Security
- Toggle on Enable Single Sign-On
This helps keep your user management tidy and secure — we recommend enabling it.

🧪 First-time testing & validation
Once installed:
- ✅ Try chatting with the eSIM Copilot bot in Teams
- ✅ Check the “My eSIMs” tab loads properly
You should not be asked to login or accept any permissions.
